SCIENCE
Creating state-of-the-art spaces for the educational teaching of science has been a key part of our delivery for many decades. Having created long standing relationships with universities across the region, we work collaboratively to design and construct new, stand alone or integrated teaching and lecture facilities, laboratories, and clean rooms.
We understand the challenges of working in live, occupied buildings and campus environments, and the sensitivity and enhanced safety needs of building science-led provisions. Logistical planning and collaborative working with staff are key to minimising disruption and our teams are highly experienced in working with existing infrastructure, systems and M&E supplies, having worked on many extensive upgrades and refurbishments.
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
Utilising our expert in-house design team, we have built a number of bespoke research and development facilities for private clients, investment companies and universities to develop innovation and new services. Located in research parks and on campus, our experience includes the delivery of highly serviced buildings, laboratories, and office developments as part of ‘grow on space’ schemes for local R&D based businesses.
All of these specialist facilities, many through long-term clients, have been built to meet the practical needs of their staff and tailored to suit the R&D product and their testing goals. Our expertise covers the rigorous regulatory and accreditation requirements crucial in the design and construction of R&D facilities, with projects demonstrating highly monitored spaces, high security, and state-of-the-art digital technology provision
LABORATORIES
At R G Carter we design and deliver, from brief to completion, a range of laboratories including wet labs, CAT-A, CAT-B and CL-2, and associated clean rooms and storage needs within these specialist facilities. Utilising our expertise in turn-key solutions, we create bespoke laboratories for private research, medical, veterinarian, and educational use, including full fit out of furniture and benching, fume cupboards and all associated equipment needed for scientific use.
We understand the importance of the services needed to enable laboratories to run and accessed safely and efficiently, whether new or integrated from adjacent facilities. From heating, ventilation and air conditioning to specialist supply of medical gases, our knowledgeable construction team and inhouse M&E services follow the stringent guidelines needed to deliver controlled conditions for scientific and clinical experiments, research and analysis.

The new building is a great addition to the park and supports the translation of world class research into innovative products for the global market. The speed of construction and completion to budget was achieved though close collaboration and the teams have done an excellent job
