Tesco Superstore, Gt Dunmow

The new Tesco extension and refurbishment project in Great Dunmow was successfully completed by R G Carter Projects Team.

The main works included 1000sqm side extension to the existing building with incorporated pad foundations, cantilever steel frame, Kingspan composite roof, Euro bond cladded walls, which were overclad with larch timber on the front elevation. Within the extension the team built a warehouse / secure cage area, new cash office, new format phone shop, large clothing department with health and beauty sections and also relocated H&B & GM offer.

For the internal finishes our builders laid out a power float concrete floor to the warehouse and terrazzo tiled sales floor.

The existing store was also refurbished to bring it up to standard. These works involved installation of new refrigeration plant and cabinets, alteration and refurbishment of sales floor including shelving, signage and merchant aids. At the staff areas new toilets were placed, staff canteen was extended and office space was redecorated.

Externally the specialists resurfaced the car park, added and improved the drainage system using a permaflow Aco drain system, added new white lining and refreshed landscaping area.

The client was very pleased with this newly renovated space and bigger and better store.
