Isolation Ward at Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital
Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital was made a regional surge centre offering treatment for the sickest Covid-19 patients.
R G Carter Ltd were asked to construct a new isolation ward to provide more beds for critically ill patients. The project had very tight deadlines due to the critical phase of the pandemic and R G Carter commenced work on the project with 24 hours notification and delivered the ward on time and within budget.
The initial groundworks were completed in good time ready for the delivery of 13 modular units. The works were situated at the East Atrium which is at the heart of the live hospital site. A 30-metre link corridor was constructed to link the new ward to the main hospital.
With the insulated shell completed, the team then worked on the internal finishing, roofing and cladding of the modules. Landscaping was also required around the new ward including external emergency exit ramps, paths and perimeter fencing.
We are proud to have helped the NHS during this challenging time.
