You can’t beat seeing young people having fun and learning at the same time! This short film brings to life an amazing morning of sustainability themed activities our ThreeScore Housing team ran at St Michael’s VA Junior School with their Eco Council, demonstrating the benefit of delivering social value initiatives in the community; https://vimeo.com/812341263

On the day, with help from the R G Carter team and Norwich Regeneration Ltd, the children planted six trees to help offset trees that were removed from the Three Score development prior to its construction; took part in a Q&A session on construction and sustainability and unloaded a range of surplus building materials from the R G Carter van which they will use in imaginative play in their playground, making creations such as cars, trucks, trains and dens.

On a bitterly cold day, their Eco Hut made a perfect location for warming up over a pit fire, discussing all they had learnt and hearing their views on the environment and plans for their Forest School.

Ollie Bennison, Deputy Head Teacher, said: “The St. Michael’s Junior School, Clover Hill Infant and Nursery School and R G Carter partnership is about building a brighter future for our children and the local communities that we are in. We are thrilled to partner with R G Carter in developing our forest schools and to have the children learn about the opportunities in the construction world while gaining an appreciation for the environment. Our Eco council at school has come up with some wonderful ideas to continue this collaboration, that truly embodies the spirit of courage and advocacy, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
