A topping out ceremony was held recently at the new Alconbury Weald Headquarters for Cambridgeshire County Council, celebrating the major milestone of the completion of the roof. The facility will soon become a landmark on one of the largest Enterprise Zones in the country, delivering environmental excellence, flexible work space and improve access to the heart of the Council’s democratic functions.
This social distanced ceremony held on the roof welcomed representatives from the council and Urban&Civic, including Cllr Mac McGuire, Chairman at Cambridgeshire County Council and Chief Executive of Urban & Civic, Nigel Hugill. The event enabled stakeholders to view the building‘s progress and for us to thank everyone involved on the project to date, set to open late summer 2021.
R G Carter are proud to have helped design and build the new HQ to have as little impact as possible on the environment. The car park will include more than 20 spaces with electric car charging points, photovoltaic (PV) panels on the roof will provide a renewable energy source and an air source heat pump will heat the building.
