Waitrose Store, Kensington, London

In Kensington, London, the team from R G Carter Projects have completed their third full restrip, space configuration and re-fit for Waitrose over the past few months.

On Gloucester Road, close to the Tube station, all woks have been completed just in 6 weeks to keep the store closing time to a minimum, throwing a variety of obstacles in the way of the project’s daily operations. Deliveries were particularly challenging and took much longer than usual, requiring permits for every delivery, with a 10 day notice period needed for each distribution. Planning ahead was essential for the project to be able to open the store on time.

The works included demolition and installation of new walls, installation of new freezers, chillers and cold rooms, new electrical & mechanical services including emergency lighting, alterations to dry good fixtures to suit the new layout, installation of new ceiling & LED lights, repair existing tiles and refurbishments of partner facilities.

The client and consumers appreciated the team’s commitment to keeping the project on schedule and ensuring that the busy and significant store was successfully renovated and opened as planned.
