Children from Botley School in Oxford joined staff from R G Carter to decorate hoarding at the site where a shell was constructed for a new Waitrose branch. Staff and children were inspired by artist Lara Cron, creating a fantastic Oxford scene, including buildings and wildlife from the area. The children then enjoyed an owl display and were able to handle the owls.
The theme for the hoarding derived from the sculpture that was commissioned on behalf of Waitrose and is based on the “Seven Tythings” (Hamlets) of Abingdon Abbey.
Award winning
The hoarding artwork was entered into the Considerate Constructors Scheme hoarding competition, in which contractors compete for the best work of art and was one of the competition winners.
A fun day was had by all and the painting was finished with the children’s signatures on the main tree.
