What is a degree apprenticeship?
An innovative new way to study, degree apprenticeships combine the very best of higher and vocational education. Our Degree Apprenticeships are delivered in collaboration with the University College of Estate Management (UCEM) via distance learning.
- Earn while you learn mixing practical experience with academic study
- Achieve a BSc ( Hons ) degree in 4 years
- Industry recognised professional qualifications in Construction Management or Quantity Surveying
- Learning is supplemented with professional expert support

Why do we partner with UCEM?
The University College of Estate Management (UCEM) are the leading provider of online learning for the construction industry. UCEM is a higher education institution which provides courses by distance learning for people in the property and construction industries throughout the world. UCEM work closely with professional bodies in the construction industry (RICS, CIOB, CABE and CMI) to ensure programmes provide competencies needed to achieve professional accreditation.

Enrol onto your degree apprenticeship in September
Experience a range of roles; out on site, estimating, management
ONSITE
See a project from the ground up and gain a greater understanding of the construction process.
QUANTITY SURVEYING
Understand how the commercial functions that impact a project are managed.
ESTIMATING
Understand how a job opportunity is secured and the key decisions that are made at an early stage in a project.
MANAGEMENT
Oversee a project, delivering on time, to a predetermined budget and to the quality required.
Undertake your academic modules
Undertake your academic models to achieve your BSc Hons Academic modules will be delivered via distance learning by UCEM in a tailored and structured manner via a Virtual Learning Environment. Students will study one day a week (35 weeks a year) to undertake their studies at one of our training facilities.
Ongoing Support from the Academy and your UCEM Tutor
Support is given throughout your journey from R G Carter Academy, your line manager, R G Carter mentor as well as UCEM.
Regular updates on your progress
Regular reviews of your progress will be undertaken in the office and in relation to your academic course. This is also a great opportunity for you to let us know how you think you are doing.
Achieve your degree
On completion you will graduate and will have earned an industry recognised degree in your chosen specialism.
Become a Qualified Professional
Now you are qualified you can progress to achieving Chartered Professional membership.
