Our design team CDG, recently returned to University Technical College Norfolk, to deliver a bridge building event for 110, Year 10 students, in support of promoting STEM subjects and inspiring careers in the construction industry.
Further to a presentation to all the students, they were then put into small groups and were set a challenge to design and build bridges using only card, masking tape and string. Each team presented back their designs, and the models were then tested to destruction. Prizes were awarded for overall team performance, maximum load carrying capacity and aesthetics.
Great creativity was shown by all the Year 10 students, with the winning teams’ bridge had a well considered design, and was capable of a mid-span load in excess of 2.5kg!
