Refurbishment of Resuscitation Unit at QEH, Kings Lynn

R G Carter were contracted to reconfigure and refurbish the Resuscitation Unit within the Emergency Department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kings Lynn.

The refurbishment started with the stripping-out of the ground floor of the modular building back to the shell of the building. Work could then commence on installing new services, configuring four new bed bays and creating multiple storerooms, service areas, a reception area and an external plant room.

The team were working within a live hospital environment. The first floor of the building was occupied throughout the duration of the project and the wider Emergency Department was adjacent to the building.

Daily collaboration with hospital management ensured we were aware of activity around our work and could mitigate disruption at all times. Noise was continually monitored and the construction areas were fully
dust-sealed to prevent contamination to neighbouring live areas.
