R G Carter is looking to employ an Assistant Financial Accountant to provide effective support to the Financial Accountant and assist in preparing, developing and analysing financial information to enable the Firm to make informed decisions, thereby ensuring financial stability, profitability and growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Assisting in the production of financial statements under FRS 102 including profit and loss accounts, cash flows, variance analysis and commentaries that provides a comprehensive overview of the financial performance of the Firm.
- Support the external audit process and liaise with external auditors thereby ensuring appropriate controls and governance is in place and is being adhered to.
- Develops positive links with operating companies to support effective financial management as well as appropriate governance and controls.
- Support the development and implementation of financial systems and processes, enabling the organisation to make efficient and effective use of systems and resources.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies and controls ensuring there is a consistent framework of governance and control.
- Undertake internal audit procedures including reviewing CIS and VAT returns.
Key Skills & Knowledge
- Preparation of financial statements under FRS 102. Knowledge and experience with group companies and consolidations beneficial.
- Knowledge of the construction industry and long-term contract accounting beneficial.
- Part qualified accountant/willing to undertake study (AAT / ACCA / ICAEW).
- Utilise enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems including developing and identifying areas for system enhancement/improvement.
- Knowledge of Caseware and COINS software beneficial.
- Good Excel skills (i.e. use of complex formulae, lookups and pivot tables) with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to carry out data analysis.
- Able to review current performance and identify ways of making improvements (process/systems) thereby solving problems.
- Ability to develop effective relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to support non-financial managers to interpret their financial information and manage more effectively.
