Highways Gritter Store, North Willingham
The existing vehicle store at the North Willingham Depot was in much need of replacement as it was heavily corroded and the vehicle bay sizes were too small for the stock of enhoused gritter lorries.
This project was the design and construction of a new portal framed building to provide storage for eight gritters and associated snowplough attachments.
The building is clad on three sides with the front elevation fully open for vehicle entry and exit.
Works involved:
- Removal of existing vehicle store, containing asbestos roof sheets.
- Disconnection and removal of redundant electrical connections and distribution boards within existing building.
- Replacement/relocation of existing power where required.
- Relocation of existing water supply.
- Extension of concrete ground slab to support the enlarged building footprint.
- Internal lighting to enable safe working within the building.
- Small power installed.
- External lighting to yard.
- Installation of new soakaway.
The Client, Lincolnshire County Council are very pleased with their new facility which has provided a much needed upgrade.
The project was delivered on programme, within budget and kept to a high quality finish, ready in time for the winter
